Wherever you visit, you can usually find a good variety of places to stay; we realise that this isn't just restricted to cottages and that there is competition from b&bs and hotels. Northumberland is full of great places to stay, with self-catering accommodation in nearly every town. The selection of Ross holiday cottages is increasing every year. You can get up late, stay up late, go for walks, stay inside - and eat whatever takes your fancy, exactly when you're hungry.

The choice of Ross cottages is very broad so its important to understand what you need in advance. There's no doubt that being in the right town or village is a big factor, but the number of beds you need is more so. Before you book, be clear on how many people need separate beds as if you're travelling with friends, they may not be up for sharing double beds!

Although we can't promise this for all our cottages in Ross and Northumberland, many of them are very close to a number of outdoor facilities. These can include mountain biking, swimming, road cycling, climbing, canoeing, flying kites, shooting - as well as tennis and golf. Or perhaps you're more interested in a pint of beer, a glass of wine or a gin and tonic in a traditional country pub?

The best thing (at least as far as we're concerned) about staying in a Ross holiday cottage is the self-catering. It's a relief to be able to eat whatever you fancy, and any time of the day, and of course self-catering can include take-aways. Most people will drive to their destination because it gives them increased mobility on their holiday. With the cost of petrol ever increasing it's worth investigating alternative travel arrangements. Although most places are going to be out of reach by bicycle the UK train and coach network can get you very close.
