Wherever you visit, you can usually find a good variety of places to stay; we realise that this isn't just restricted to cottages and that there is competition from b&bs and hotels. Many of our properties are situated in beautiful villages, quiet countryside or charming seaside towns. There's a good range of cottages in Caithness which is great for you, the consumer. Caithness family holidays in cottages are great for many reasons, but certainly the number one reason is creating a temporary home from home. You can get up late, stay up late, go for walks, stay inside - and eat whatever takes your fancy, exactly when you're hungry.
Renting is a great way to spend a week away. We know that sometimes it's hard to book a long way in advance, but the benefits are obvious - more availability. Knowing what everyone wants can make a big difference when you book your holiday accommodation in Caithness. Booking the right number of bedrooms is critical as although too many is a luxury, too few can be a big problem. The bed-factor can be a deal breaker - so if you think anyone might not be happy sharing with someone else, please check.

Cottages in Highland range in size from small and quaint for a couple right up to properties that can accommodate more than 10. If you want to query any part of your booking you should get in touch with the company that took your reservation and sent you a confirmation email. Although we can't promise this for all our cottages in Caithness and Highland, many of them are very close to a number of outdoor facilities. These can include mountain biking, swimming, road cycling, climbing, canoeing, flying kites, shooting - as well as tennis and golf. If you like more gentle options there's always a good walk nearby, and sometimes it might lead you to a pub.
When staying with friends we think self-catering is the best way to stay in Caithness, it's just more fun. From home cooked meals to pub lunches and from smart restaurants to take away pizza, there's much more choice. Cars are by far the preferred mode of transport and travel to Caithness and Highland. Although it's good to be able to hop in the car to the nearest town when you get there - don't you really just want to get away from it all? Although most places are going to be out of reach by bicycle the UK train and coach network can get you very close.
