We work with some of the best cottage operators and agencies in the UK and so if we don't have a suitable property, you may find it doesn't exist. When you are looking for the right holiday cottage in Pencaitland, there are a few considerations to bear in mind. There's no doubt that being in the right town or village is a big factor, but the number of beds you need is more so. Make sure you know who is prepared to share a room, and who isn't - it's not always obvious til you ask.

Cottages in East Lothian range in size from small and quaint for a couple right up to properties that can accommodate more than 10. Even if you already have a busy itinerary planned for your holiday you might want to consider some additional activities in Pencaitland and East Lothian. These can include mountain biking, swimming, road cycling, climbing, canoeing, flying kites, shooting - as well as tennis and golf. Or perhaps you're more interested in a pint of beer, a glass of wine or a gin and tonic in a traditional country pub?

When staying with friends we think self-catering is the best way to stay in Pencaitland, it's just more fun. Whether you love cooking up a large stew, a roast dinner or just prefer a toasted cheese sandwich - it can match your mood. Cars are by far the preferred mode of transport and travel to Pencaitland and East Lothian. But we'd suggest that taking the car can add to the stress levels and you can arrive exhausted from a long drive. Although most places are going to be out of reach by bicycle the UK train and coach network can get you very close.
