Wherever you visit, you can usually find a good variety of places to stay; we realise that this isn't just restricted to cottages and that there is competition from b&bs and hotels. Many of our Membury properties are in outstanding areas of natural beauty. The selection of Membury holiday cottages is increasing every year. If you are holidaying with your family, a Membury cottage can be the perfect place to stay - both for you and your children. You can get up late, stay up late, go for walks, stay inside - and eat whatever takes your fancy, exactly when you're hungry.

There are many rental cottages in Devon that can accommodate you. Please try to book your holiday in advance as last minute reservations are possible but obviously not guaranteed! Getting the perfect property for your stay in Membury is made much easier with our site, but make sure you're prepared! Understanding how many beds you need is often more important that any of the other facilities such as wi-fi. Before you book, be clear on how many people need separate beds as if you're travelling with friends, they may not be up for sharing double beds!
Some of the best cottages in Devon can be found in and around Membury, so we hope you find what you need. If you have a question about your reservation please contact the cottage operator who took your order and card details. Although we can't promise this for all our cottages in Membury and Devon, many of them are very close to a number of outdoor facilities. There are usually opportunities to play golf or tennis, or if you're into solo sports there's always biking, running and sometimes archery. Or perhaps you're more interested in a pint of beer, a glass of wine or a gin and tonic in a traditional country pub?

When staying with friends we think self-catering is the best way to stay in Membury, it's just more fun. Whether you love cooking up a large stew, a roast dinner or just prefer a toasted cheese sandwich - it can match your mood. Assuming you don't own a private helicopter, you're probably thinking about travelling in your own car. With the rise in petrol and the cost of wear and tear on your car you should consider other options. Buses and coaches are often surprisingly good value, and a train journey will take you through countryside you'll never see from the road.

Devon

Devon is sandwiched between the two great counties of Somerset and Cornwall, and for many people it is the best of the three - you do not need Cornish pasties and Somerset cider when you can feast on Devon cream teas. The source of the name Devon comes from Dumnonia, the home of a tribe of Celts who were around when the Romans invade Britain.

Devon is deceptively large, in fact it is the fourth largest county in England but has a population of just over a million with the main city being Exeter, the home of one of the UKs best universities as well as the stunning Gothic cathedral that you can visit for religious or tourist purposes. The other significant city is Plymouth which has been a navy port for centuries. Devon has a number of fantastic stately homes including Arlington Court, Buckland Abbey, Castle Drogo, Killerton House, Powderham ... (more)
