FILTER COTTAGES
...
Wherever you visit, you can usually find a good variety of places to stay; we realise that this isn't just restricted to cottages and that there is competition from b&bs and hotels. Cottages are usually found in country villages and areas, but can be modern as well as traditional. The selection of Hawkchurch holiday cottages is increasing every year. Children enjoy staying in cottages even more than adults, because there's a huge sense of freedom that they just don't get in a hotel, staying with friends or even at home. You can get up late, stay up late, go for walks, stay inside - and eat whatever takes your fancy, exactly when you're hungry.

A cottage can be perfect for a very short break or very long holiday. We work with some of the best cottage operators and agencies in the UK and so if we don't have a suitable property, you may find it doesn't exist. Knowing what everyone wants can make a big difference when you book your holiday accommodation in Hawkchurch. Although location and the core facilities play a large part in the decision, please make sure you pay attention to the beds. Before you book, be clear on how many people need separate beds as if you're travelling with friends, they may not be up for sharing double beds!
Devon is blessed with a large number of very excellent holiday cottages suitable for families, couples and just friends. Our site is focused on finding and recommending accommodation, we do not make the bookings, so if you have concerns, please contact the company who took your booking. Holiday makers often like to get out into the country and take part in open-air activities, and in Devon there are number of great options. From cycling and climbing right through to canoeing or just running around an empty field, there's no end of fun to be had. Or perhaps you're more interested in a pint of beer, a glass of wine or a gin and tonic in a traditional country pub?

Self-catering can make a cottage holiday in Hawkchurch much more flexible, allowing you to eat whatever you want (or can cook). It's a relief to be able to eat whatever you fancy, and any time of the day, and of course self-catering can include take-aways. Most people will drive to their destination because it gives them increased mobility on their holiday. But have you considered taking a more environmentally sound approach, one that uses less carbon? Buses and coaches are often surprisingly good value, and a train journey will take you through countryside you'll never see from the road.

Devon

Devon is sandwiched between the two great counties of Somerset and Cornwall, and for many people it is the best of the three - you do not need Cornish pasties and Somerset cider when you can feast on Devon cream teas. The source of the name Devon comes from Dumnonia, the home of a tribe of Celts who were around when the Romans invade Britain.

Devon is deceptively large, in fact it is the fourth largest county in England but has a population of just over a million with the main city being Exeter, the home of one of the UKs best universities as well as the stunning Gothic cathedral that you can visit for religious or tourist purposes. The other significant city is Plymouth which has been a navy port for centuries. Devon has a number of fantastic stately homes including Arlington Court, Buckland Abbey, Castle Drogo, Killerton House, Powderham ... (more)
