The range of accommodation available in the UK is impressive, and this not only allows holiday makers to choose from many alternatives, but also keeps the prices competitive. Cottages are usually found in country villages and areas, but can be modern as well as traditional. Cottage holidays have a unique feel to them and there are more and more cottages available in Braunton. Taking your family away can be fun and stressful, but we find that staying in a cottage takes much of that stress away. You can get up late, stay up late, go for walks, stay inside - and eat whatever takes your fancy, exactly when you're hungry.

Renting is a great way to spend a week away. We know that sometimes it's hard to book a long way in advance, but the benefits are obvious - more availability. When you are looking for the right holiday cottage in Braunton, there are a few considerations to bear in mind. Although location and the core facilities play a large part in the decision, please make sure you pay attention to the beds. Getting the right number of beds and bedrooms can be the difference between friends and family sleeping well - or not at all.
Cottages in Devon range in size from small and quaint for a couple right up to properties that can accommodate more than 10. If you have a question about your reservation please contact the cottage operator who took your order and card details. Holiday makers often like to get out into the country and take part in open-air activities, and in Devon there are number of great options. From cycling and climbing right through to canoeing or just running around an empty field, there's no end of fun to be had. Or maybe you'd be happier sitting by the side of a river with a fishing rod, a cup of coffee and a good friend?

When staying with friends we think self-catering is the best way to stay in Braunton, it's just more fun. It's great to cook your own food, know exactly what ingredients are going in, and enjoying the reward of a great meal. Assuming you don't own a private helicopter, you're probably thinking about travelling in your own car. But we'd suggest that taking the car can add to the stress levels and you can arrive exhausted from a long drive. Kids can find the adventure of a train or coach far more interesting, and it takes away the stress of navigation.

Devon

Devon is sandwiched between the two great counties of Somerset and Cornwall, and for many people it is the best of the three - you do not need Cornish pasties and Somerset cider when you can feast on Devon cream teas. The source of the name Devon comes from Dumnonia, the home of a tribe of Celts who were around when the Romans invade Britain.

Devon is deceptively large, in fact it is the fourth largest county in England but has a population of just over a million with the main city being Exeter, the home of one of the UKs best universities as well as the stunning Gothic cathedral that you can visit for religious or tourist purposes. The other significant city is Plymouth which has been a navy port for centuries. Devon has a number of fantastic stately homes including Arlington Court, Buckland Abbey, Castle Drogo, Killerton House, Powderham ... (more)
