If you are looking for a modern family cottage, a romantic break in an old stone cottage or just somewhere to get away for a short time, we can help. Many of our properties are situated in beautiful villages, quiet countryside or charming seaside towns. More than ever before, there's a good selection of holiday cottages in and around Bideford. Bideford family holidays in cottages are great for many reasons, but certainly the number one reason is creating a temporary home from home. So you can let you kids do whatever they want (as long as you're happy!) without fear of being too noisy or too messy.

Renting is a great way to spend a week away. Please try to book your holiday in advance as last minute reservations are possible but obviously not guaranteed! When you are looking for the right holiday cottage in Bideford, there are a few considerations to bear in mind. Understanding how many beds you need is often more important that any of the other facilities such as wi-fi. Before you book, be clear on how many people need separate beds as if you're travelling with friends, they may not be up for sharing double beds!
Cottages in Devon range in size from small and quaint for a couple right up to properties that can accommodate more than 10. If you have any concerns with your booking, please contact the cottage operator directly since we are unable to help. Bideford and Devon have a number of great things to do if you want to sample the fresh air and move a few muscles. These can include mountain biking, swimming, road cycling, climbing, canoeing, flying kites, shooting - as well as tennis and golf. But many people also like to just take it easy - and sit back and enjoy the experience away from the stress of work.

One of the great benefits of cottage holidays in Bideford is being able to self-cater, or at least do your own thing. Whether you love cooking up a large stew, a roast dinner or just prefer a toasted cheese sandwich - it can match your mood. Without a doubt the main way holiday makers get to their cottage is by car, because it's the easiest. With the rise in petrol and the cost of wear and tear on your car you should consider other options. Trains, buses and coaches are a much more carbon friendly solution since the fuel is shared by so many more people.

Devon

Devon is sandwiched between the two great counties of Somerset and Cornwall, and for many people it is the best of the three - you do not need Cornish pasties and Somerset cider when you can feast on Devon cream teas. The source of the name Devon comes from Dumnonia, the home of a tribe of Celts who were around when the Romans invade Britain.

Devon is deceptively large, in fact it is the fourth largest county in England but has a population of just over a million with the main city being Exeter, the home of one of the UKs best universities as well as the stunning Gothic cathedral that you can visit for religious or tourist purposes. The other significant city is Plymouth which has been a navy port for centuries. Devon has a number of fantastic stately homes including Arlington Court, Buckland Abbey, Castle Drogo, Killerton House, Powderham ... (more)
