The range of accommodation available in the UK is impressive, and this not only allows holiday makers to choose from many alternatives, but also keeps the prices competitive. Many of our properties are situated in beautiful villages, quiet countryside or charming seaside towns. Cottage holidays have a unique feel to them and there are more and more cottages available in Barbican. Children enjoy staying in cottages even more than adults, because there's a huge sense of freedom that they just don't get in a hotel, staying with friends or even at home. Because you can do whatever you want, whenever you want, and don't have to worry about anyone getting upset.

Renting is a great way to spend a week away. The busiest times of year will be around the school summer holiday, so if you don't have kids, you may want to avoid July and August. When you are looking for the right holiday cottage in Barbican, there are a few considerations to bear in mind. Although location and the core facilities play a large part in the decision, please make sure you pay attention to the beds. Getting the right number of beds and bedrooms can be the difference between friends and family sleeping well - or not at all.
Some of the best cottages in Devon can be found in and around Barbican, so we hope you find what you need. If you have any concerns with your booking, please contact the cottage operator directly since we are unable to help. Although we can't promise this for all our cottages in Barbican and Devon, many of them are very close to a number of outdoor facilities. There are usually opportunities to play golf or tennis, or if you're into solo sports there's always biking, running and sometimes archery. Or maybe you'd be happier sitting by the side of a river with a fishing rod, a cup of coffee and a good friend?

When staying with friends we think self-catering is the best way to stay in Barbican, it's just more fun. From home cooked meals to pub lunches and from smart restaurants to take away pizza, there's much more choice. Cars are by far the preferred mode of transport and travel to Barbican and Devon. But have you considered taking a more environmentally sound approach, one that uses less carbon? You could go by train or coach, with a short taxi ride at the other end, and then hire some bicycles to get around.

Devon

Devon is sandwiched between the two great counties of Somerset and Cornwall, and for many people it is the best of the three - you do not need Cornish pasties and Somerset cider when you can feast on Devon cream teas. The source of the name Devon comes from Dumnonia, the home of a tribe of Celts who were around when the Romans invade Britain.

Devon is deceptively large, in fact it is the fourth largest county in England but has a population of just over a million with the main city being Exeter, the home of one of the UKs best universities as well as the stunning Gothic cathedral that you can visit for religious or tourist purposes. The other significant city is Plymouth which has been a navy port for centuries. Devon has a number of fantastic stately homes including Arlington Court, Buckland Abbey, Castle Drogo, Killerton House, Powderham ... (more)
