These can include mountain biking, swimming, road cycling, climbing, canoeing, flying kites, shooting - as well as tennis and golf. If you like more gentle options there's always a good walk nearby, and sometimes it might lead you to a pub.

Self-catering can make a cottage holiday in Buxton much more flexible, allowing you to eat whatever you want (or can cook). It's great to cook your own food, know exactly what ingredients are going in, and enjoying the reward of a great meal. Cars are by far the preferred mode of transport and travel to Buxton and Derbyshire. But we'd suggest that taking the car can add to the stress levels and you can arrive exhausted from a long drive. You could go by train or coach, with a short taxi ride at the other end, and then hire some bicycles to get around.
