Cars are by far the preferred mode of transport and travel to Bootle and Cumbria. But we'd suggest that taking the car can add to the stress levels and you can arrive exhausted from a long drive. Buses and coaches are often surprisingly good value, and a train journey will take you through countryside you'll never see from the road.
