Cottages are usually found in country villages and areas, but can be modern as well as traditional. The selection of Dollar holiday cottages is increasing every year. Kids love staying in cottages and although hotels can have more facilities, there's not the same sense of adventure - and there are certainly more rules and regulations. So you can let you kids do whatever they want (as long as you're happy!) without fear of being too noisy or too messy.

Although we can't promise this for all our cottages in Dollar and Clackmannanshire, many of them are very close to a number of outdoor facilities. From cycling and climbing right through to canoeing or just running around an empty field, there's no end of fun to be had. If you like more gentle options there's always a good walk nearby, and sometimes it might lead you to a pub.

When staying with friends we think self-catering is the best way to stay in Dollar, it's just more fun. From home cooked meals to pub lunches and from smart restaurants to take away pizza, there's much more choice. Most people will drive to their destination because it gives them increased mobility on their holiday. With the rise in petrol and the cost of wear and tear on your car you should consider other options. Trains, buses and coaches are a much more carbon friendly solution since the fuel is shared by so many more people.
